Fall Color Arrives at Elevation in Rocky Mountain National Park
The Denver Post reported on September 29, 2022 that the big fall color change had finally arrived in northern Colorado, with peak colors beginning at the highest elevations. A photo caption noted color starting to peak on Kenosha Pass on September 27, 2022.
Thomas Pemberton of Estes Park Tour Guides, who leads hiking and photography tours into Rocky Mountain National Park, said the change had just begun near Estes Park but the park itself was beautiful. "You have to go to elevation to see the colors, but the minute you get into park, you see those bright golds and yellows," he said. He described groves changing unevenly, some fully turned while others had not, with yellows and greens across the mountainside, and called the trip absolutely worth it.
